I hate Celebrity Causes
Posted on February 21st, 2009 No commentsI hate almost all of the what’s, what of celebrity news. I try my best to avoid all that crap just as I avoid Wal-Mart and its shoppers. I, however, am I man who is trying to stay informed and up to date the world. Therefore, every once in a while I will come into contact with entertainment news much in the way one would step in dog shit.

“Activity Doesn’t Equal Achievement”
Posted on February 14th, 2009 No commentsThese are famous words by the Holy John Wooden. To UCLA people, the world was created, NCAA basketball was made and then there was Wooden. Like most good quotes, it takes about a paragraph to explain the meaning. The Wooden comment came from the observation that in basketball games where there was a lot of running, jumping, scoring, getting technical fouls, etc.; the game was not dominated by one team or the other. This applies in IRL when you see people doing a whole bunch a shit but the ability to accomplish their goals is questionable.
You see all those rallies against "X" and the guys in power don’t do anything because they just don’t care. There’s a lot of bitching and moaning about the man/government/authority/whatever but you know it does dick. As I go to UCLA Extension for business classes to clean up my nearly blank resume, half the time there’s a fucking rally going on blocking traffic. It’s so bad I want to leave my car on the street and walk the rest of the way. Look, I’m for environment and I really hate cops but I don’t just get together with other people for the sole purpose of making traffic in LA worse than it needs to be. IT DOES NOTHING TO ADVANCE THE GOAL AND PISSES THE SHIT OUT OF ANYONE WILLING TO LISTEN.
Furthermore, when there’s a rally, rain and a UCLA basketball game going on, I just kick back and take a deep breath. I know hell can’t be worse than this.
